New Aprons On Deck!

Just finished a whole slew of adorable new half-aprons. Wild colors, vintage fabrics, who could ask for more? Oh right, pictures would be good. I’ll post as soon as I can find a blank space to photograph these beauties against!

Again? Yup, it was Audrey’s birthday yesterday and we had a small surprise meeting over cocktails at the Green Dragon last night. 8:30 says Dan G, oops they didn’t manage to get there until 10:00. I guess that’s what you get for taking your gf to a really nice restaurant!

I was only there for 2.5 hours and 3 pints and yet I feel like yuck today. I didn’t have even a buzz, what happened? Oh yeah, those pints were $5 each. Hmmm. I could have purchased 2 six packs of the same beer I had 3 pints of and shared with my friends in the comfort of one of our homes. I think I’ll do that next time, I’m going to have to make good on my multiple threats not to go back there.

Found this vintage pattern at the Goodwill a few weeks ago, Simplicity 6358. It’s so cute! I know it’s a big summery for the season, but I do live in Portland, I can layer.

The fabric is some Joann Fabrics special purchase, it’s green and brown camo print with an allover bugs and beetles print. Very cute and perfect for the 7 year old boy aesthetic I so often appeal to. Vintage red plastic buttons.

This could have used some shaping, it’s a sack around the middle, but very cute otherwise.

Love the new buggy shirt!

Adorable tiny carnival at the model train thingamajig. Went yesterday with D and one of the shortstacks. Really quite cool. I just love the teeny tiny scenes of old Portland. And yes, it definitely makes me happy to know there are things like this in the world.

I love flickr. So. Much. Apparently, the owner of this photograph also owns a funeral home and has a display of taxidermied squirrels and other small things in the basement of said funeral home.

It’s creepy, but it’s cool. Does that make taxidermy your new cool? I guess so. Anyway, it makes me happy. What makes you happy?

This picture is not my own lucky find, but one of my flickr contacts. Who wouldn’t love to find this though? It makes me happy to think about how there is so much unexpected beauty in the world. Something as simple as a tin of colorful buttons brings me joy. I guess that makes me easy to please.

I made collard greens for the first time last night. So. Freaking. Good! They were sweet and spicy, had an excellent texture, and the perfect tang without too much of a vinegar taste. Only took about 45 minutes to make and pretty easy to boot. I love this website, I get tons of awesome recipes from them. HERE is the recipe for this dish. I can’t express how much I love this site.
